  Art Class

Making Writing Fun in Art Class

WJHS art classes is currently doing a word art project. The students were asked to write a poem, story, or find a song to begin the project. They then had to pick an image from the poem/story/song that best represented the overall theme. Students lightly drew a contour drawing of the object and added lines across the page to write their text on. Once all the pencil marks were done, they colored only the letters on the page, changing colors within the contour drawing.   “This project combines the elements and principles of design with a writing prompt. It is a great example of a cross-curriculum assignment that can make writing fun,” said Mr. Hannah, the art teacher. The art will be displayed outside his classroom.
