Pop Art Portraits

A small group of students at Westwood Junior High have been exploring Pop Art style portraits in the manner of artist, Andy Warhol. Students used a digital camera and a photoshop program to simplify their portraits into black and white then transferred the image to a larger surface. The teacher is Ms. Kim Kennedy.



WJHS students who met their AR goal for the students last six weeks were rewarded with an ice cream party for all of their hard work.  These student are 7th graders, Ashley Alvarado, Jay Cunningham, Emily Docteur, Lillie Mack, Riley O’Donnell, Taylor Severns, and Violet Strube.  The 8th graders are Cayla Barlow, Jilmer Cruz, Ashley Gante, and Deana Goodson.


Japanese Paper Folding

The art class at Westwood Junior High has started a unit on origami, or Japanese paper folding.  Origami does not use glue, tape, or staples. The students are making cranes that will be part of a chandelier. The art teacher is Mr. Thomas Hanna.


Students Hear Motivational Speaker

The students at WJHS had the opportunity to listen to motivational speaker, Cynthia Bazin, during a recent assembly.  She spoke about about making choices and setting goals.
